TransWarp Getting More Play

TransWarp is getting more play of late. I was beginning to wonder if people were scared off by the notion of Deep Rybka 3.0, I guess not! In it's last 46 games with Rybka 3.0 it has given up 3 draws, but the last 23 were draw free, all wins. Sensei24 who is good at getting blockaded positions even had trouble trying to add to his 2 other draws. Here are a few tries from the past 20 games.

TransWarp+Deep Rybka 3.0 "Human" 1st game

I thank junior (GM Ilya Gurevich) for being brave enough to give the new Rybka a go. I am using Deep Rybka 3.0 x64 "Human" version. I thought I would test that one as it's supposed to play a human style of game. No one really wanted to play it seems until junior gave it a try. Here is the game, again, thanks to GM Ilya Gurevich for playing!

TransWarp now Running Deep Rybka 3.0

TransWarp is now running Deep Rybka 3.0 mp x64 "Human" version. I figure since TW plays Humans, it should run the Human version. But that doesn't mean I won't test other versions as well. There is a regular default version, kind of like Rybka 2.3.2a mp x64, there aren't any variants of the main program.

Other versions include Deep Rybka 3.0 x64 "Dynamic" (I guess when I put mp in the previous entry, was kind of an oxymoron (Deep and MP are the same). As well as the previous "Default" Deep Rybka 3.0 x64. There are still 32 bit versions of Rybka as well, I haven't had any players yet with the new version, but I'm looking forward to it. I will have cleared the two players who got noplayed as a result of the new version. Have to see how it fares against those who would try to play the same moves over and over.

On another note, I will be posting a pgn file of TransWarp's last Rybka 2.3.2a mp x64's games on the website www.transwarpchess.com probably just in the form of a download right now. I'm still having trouble figuring out what's causing one of the files to crash in the replayer. Plus not feeling well, it's hard to get motivated to do such things...ugh. But needless to say, Rybka 3.0 has relit the fires and I'm trying, key word "trying" to get busy again. I will be doing that next. So don't look right away for the file. I still have to make a new database on ChessPartner, then save the file and upload it to my website. It will be found in the "games" page. A note, if you are noplayed by TransWarp, it's because you have consistantly started and aborted games, not remembering that TW is a computer..or Rybka, whichever excuse it is. There are easy commands to type in at ICC to remove all Computer seeks. Just type in "set sfilter -C" without the "'s in the main command line of blitzen or whatever interface you use. You won't see computer seeks again.

Well, off to start the new database and upload the pgn file to my website, there are about 800+ games in this file.

Rybka 3.0 Released!

Rybka 3.0 has been released today, August 6, 2008 after a very long wait. It was due to be released on Monday, but last minute bug fixes caused the 2 day delay. I'm sure all those who get Rybka will be glad that they took the few extra days to fix the bugs, than to put up with them until a fixed version is released! :)

At the moment, I don't know if I will be able to purchase Deep Rybka 3.0 I just don't have the kind of money they want for a "Deep" (or multi-processor) version. Even if it's just the UCI Engine itself and not packaged with Chess Assistant 10 or Aquarium. Which is kind of sad, I mean there are people out there with OCTAL comps now! That would buy me a small car to get around town! Beats the bus for the disabled. But I do like to go to sleep dreaming I had this kind of setup, lol, you always have your dreams, no one can take those away from you. I have 2 ICC accounts due this month, my human account and TransWarp. Then to get kicked in the butt, my website didn't send a notice that it was getting ready to deduct $38.00+ from my bank at the end of the month. So that put me $15.00 in the hole PLUS a $30.00 overdraft fee. Great. I really preferred it when they deducted monthly...at least you knew when. Needless to say, I will be writing a complaint to them, they will of course say it's my job to keep track (which it is..but a notice would be nice). Depending on the next few days, I will decide whether or not to keep my website, blog & TransWarp account. It would really make no sense to continue with Rybka 2.3.2a as well as pay for a website promoting Rybka and TransWarp. I would really hate for this to happen, but such is life, you have to do what you have to do to survive. We shall see, my friends.

In other news, TransWarp is approaching 400 days TOTAL ONLINE TIME. It won't happen for another 7.5 days online. With the exception of the "Bach" comps online there, which are ICC comps with crafty I believe. This is quite an achievement for a high rated computer. I have enough online time left to make it, the 18th is the day it expires. The 15th is when my human account expires. It's been online since 2001, but doesn't have near the hours TransWarp does! lol! Well, as I suggested below, check out which package works best for you and what you plan to do with it. It's an expensive hobby, so get the best out of it you can within your budget.
