After a long absence due to many doctor's appts and tests, I finally have a little time to post on my blog. Sadly, as I posted before, www.transwarpchess.com had to bite the dust due to costs. There hasn't been much action with TransWarp, as several times it logged off and I didn't notice, sometimes for several days, again, due to hectic schedule.
GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave had played several games, putting TransWarp back over 4000, to 4001, (Mateus), then Yaacov Norowitz played one game, a strong national master here in the US, but yet untitled, putting TW to 4002.
It was idle again for a six days until GM Rauf Mamedov played some games, he hadn't played TW in a while and it was nice to see him back, however he didn't have any luck and quit when TransWarp got to it's old high of 4009, then I think a contract was put out on poor TW ;) j/k of course, and GM Varuzhan Akobian (SCORPION83) struck back with a winning game, but gave up the draw after time trouble, I will post this game below. He spanked TW back to 3995 with that draw and played several more games, but not having any luck and quitting when TW sat at 3999.
I suspect it will sit there for quite some time, as it seems to do when approaching 4000, also TW may be offline for several days (Aug 31-Sept 03) again, due to lack of funds, hopefully, I will have enough spare cash to renew her for another 6 months. It really sucks with the prices at ICC going up for people like me, on fixed incomes, but what can I do? I do believe it's worth the price and prices are going up on everything, including internet service. But at a certain point, I have to choose between bologna or a chess account.
But to get off the gloominess, here's GM Varuzhan Akobian's draw with TransWarp, remember, it was a won game for him until time became a factor! I heard the computer fan start going after I turned the tv down for something and got to see only the rook and knight endgame, I could only hope GM Akobian would make an error to see 4010, but no such luck, TW was lucky enough to get out with a draw!
