Two Games from GM Bu Xiangzhi

Since it's been a bit quiet, I thought I would post a couple games played GM Bu Xiangzhi a few days back. I've tried a bit more open style by adding 1.e4 back into the mix, seems to have scared off the regulars. They always could play 1.d4 though, TW will still defend against QP openings. Since playing 1.e4 as white, TW has been
+22=1-0 with Rahmaninov getting a draw as white playing 1.d4. Here are the two games played by GM Bu Xiangzhi (FIDE ELO 2710) and #23 in the world. At the moment he is expected to gain 4 ELO pts, not sure exact date October list is expected.

Thanks to GM Bu for playing TransWarp, I hope he had some fun! Remember, GM's often try dubious moves vs a computer, trying to confuse it, and games aren't to be taken too serious. It's just blitz after all and when a GM like Bu Xiangzhi plays, he was probably just bored and had no one to play at the time. Lucky for TransWarp is all I can say, and Thanks again!

The Latest Wins vs TransWarp

TransWarp vs Rahmaninov

Goldmund vs TransWarp (TW should know better than to play the French vs GM Rustemov!) :D

TransWarp vs Akademik

Nice game by GM Vladimir Malakhov (Akademik)

TransWarp vs Charodej (GM Igor Smirnov)

Yep, I have to set virus check to manual! But no excuses, GM Smirnov played a good game and won, I checked the game and TW was running very slow, even on moves it had played before, so I have to believe that darn Norton was stickin' his nose in TW's business and distracting him! He should be thrown out of the Tournament Room! :P Just one of those computer things...it happens!

AHHH, I JUST saw I lost connection with the server on both the Goldmund game and Charodej game. So it wasn't the Virus Scanner, my server just left me hanging. I see it really did A-Adly badly in a standard game. I apologize to him and thank him for his patience. The person who loses the connection is penalized 15 seconds and with a laggy server, it was bound to happen. So I guess TW needed a smoke so badly, it went outside and lost on the clock, which reminds me of Mr. Don Oswald, a man who was well known in the KC area for his support of chess and running chess tournaments. He helped me learn what to do in my first tournament, he was a great guy who also ran a book store as well, but when I started playing, he was at a stage where he would fall asleep at the board. We played a couple times, both times he nodded off, with me hoping he would snooze a bit longer (I was a 1300-1400 uscf player at the time, while he was 1800+). He always woke up in time to soundly defeat me. Sometimes he would nod off several times during the game, now it's pretty sad to lose to a guy who didn't even have to stay awake during the game! He might have been messing around...I really don't know, but the KC Chess scene just wasn't the same without him. I hope he's organizing a Super Tournament with all the great names from the past playing in it! (Surprise entry by Fischer!)

Sorry for late updates... More wins vs TransWarp.

Sorry for the late update, but I haven't been feeling well lately..just one of those things you have to deal with and go on with life. There have been a couple more wins vs TransWarp. Goldmund (GM Alexander Rustemov got a time win) as did Charodej (GM Igor Smirnov) however on Charodej's win, I sadly found out that my virus scan was running, lol, needless to say, I will be setting that to manual! Also getting a win was Rahmaninov an anonymous GM, he has played quite a few games and I suspected he would win one soon. I will post all 3 wins, whoops 4, since GM Dlugy's win, Akademik also won a game, (GM Vladimir Malakhov) don't want to forget him as well! So I will post all 4 games here.

I have a person playing right now, GM Dlugy, so I want to save the ram and log off, but look for the games soon!

TransWarp Update 9-15-08

In recent play, I tried Chess Assistant 9.1 for some games as I have found that the chesspartner books are lacking. But I've known that for quite some time. Rahmaninov played some games this morning, with TransWarp giving up 5 more draws, making the total given up so far with Deep Rybka 3.0 mp x64 "Human" setup to 25. This puts TransWarp's record at +296=25-1. I may have to fiddle with the settings a bit more, maybe try out the extended hash, I have a near empty hard drive for that, but not sure if it makes a difference, have to read up on it more. I had TIGRANO (GM Tigran L. Petrosian) play a couple of bullet games, but he was unwilling to put up that 3500+ blitz rating to the test :D By far now, Rahmaninov seems to be the bravest GM to give TransWarp play, keeping it in the high 3500-3600 rating range with the draws.

And a quick bullet game from TIGRANO, remember, bullet is VERY FAST chess, it is very easy to make mistakes, and should not be taken seriously as the player's strength in chess. It's just all for fun! (Same can be said for blitz!) :)

GM Rauf Mamedov plays TransWarp

GrandMaster Rauf Mamedov of Azerbaijan played 5 games vs TransWarp this morning, but was not able to draw blood. (Or Silicon?) He plays under the handle "muisback" at ICC and has a FIDE rating of 2627 (July 2008). As I was looking at the rating list, it appears that GM Nakamura will achieve 2700 on the next rating list! Canada will be proud of their new GM.

Hopefully, I will be able to report on more games tomorrow as it is the beginning of the day yet! Thanks to muisback for being a good sport and playing TransWarp. By no means by posting these games do I intend to demean any player, (ie. rub it in) They are just blitz games and are intended to be fun for the players. Deep Rybka 3.0 has gotten stronger and people are interested in it's results, like the GM Maxim Dlugy win posted below (or in archive now) I will post wins vs TransWarp for sure!

latest update

Well, today TransWarp gave up a long draw...way over 300 moves to RENATEX(IM) in a
3' + 1" blitz game. I cannot post it here because of the length of the game. If it's more than 200 moves, the replayer won't accept the game for viewing. TransWarp continues to do well, it's current record after converting to Deep Rybka 3.0 mp "Human" variation is +223=10-1 Goldmund achieved a draw the day before RENETEX, the "Human" edition of Deep Rybka 3.0 must really avoid blockades...5 draws per 100 games and 1 loss in 234 makes me quite happy with the new program. I just hope people continue to play! I thank all those who have, Goldmund, Rahmaninov, Dlugy, Sensei24, RENATEX, TRADE & denmanisgod and those I have forgotten. I really appreciate the play and much thanks!

GM Maxim Dlugy takes out TransWarp!

Here is GM Maxim Dlugy's win over TransWarp the other day. Awesome play by Maxim! It was actually during the winstreak I thought TransWarp had, I missed the win, Sorry Maxim! It was about on game 99 or so since TransWarp went to Deep Rybka 3. Also since then TransWarp has given up 5 more draws, all against (Rahmaninov) an anonymous GM. I believe TransWarp's record since going to Deep Rybka 3.0 is +157-1=8 which is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. There is, at the moment, one outstanding game vs Dlugy. I kind of like the fact that Dlugy did it first, as he's the only GM I've actually played over the board in a Simul at The Kansas Open over 10 years ago. (He went undefeated and gave up no draws in the simul). He also won the event (Open) with IM's Kraai and Michael Brooks in the mix. I think Jesse Kraai has his GM now. He lifted 5 bucks off of me in handicapped chess, 1 min vs 5 min, with myself getting the 5, 5 games straight, no surprise to me, but it was fun! Anyway, here's the Dlugy vs TransWarp game.

Just a quick note

A special thanks to denmanisgod (GM anonymous) and GM Maxim Dlugy (Dlugy) for playing TransWarp. It had been quiet for a few days. TransWarp continues (or rather Deep Rybka 3 mp x64 "Human" version) is still holding off the challengers. It hasn't given up a draw in 80 games! This is MUCH better than the record of Rybka 2.3.2a mp x64, I would say that the Rybka Team held up their end of the bargain in saying Rybka would be much tougher to beat or give up draws to blockading! However, the best in blockading haven't played much, only Sensei24 and Goldmund. So I think the Rybka Team should be quite proud of their efforts! :)

TransWarp back after power supply failure

Sorry for being absent the past few weeks, but my puter had it's power supply go bad. I was in major computer withdrawl! Thanks to my Dad for helping get the puter back online! Here are 2 games by Goldmund vs Deep Rybka 3 "Human" program on TransWarp. Seems the blockade tries are made harder with this setting.

Goldmund (GM Alexander Rustemov) vs TransWarp

TransWarp vs Goldmund

Thanks to bani for playing a couple of bullet games as well, (GM Hristos Banikas). Both won by TransWarp, but as I see it, Deep Rybka 3 "Human" is a very tough customer, I'm just glad people try now and then, but I worry that it being so tough could cause no GM/IM play at all. TransWarp hasn't given up a draw or loss in 40 games. MUCH better than Rybka 2.3.2a's percentage.

RE: FTC Blogger Compensation Endorsement Rule Dec 01, 2009

While TransWarp Chess does get compensation for banner ads from Google Adsense, Google Affiliate Program, Commission Junction Affiliate Program and Allposters.com. TransWarp Chess does try not to personally Endorse any specific product, while I the blogger may like the idea of certain products and services, it is up to you, the reader to decide if a product deserves to be looked at via the ads. I comment on chess and computer chess, this blog is NOT about the products that are featured in the ads. At any rate, to date TransWarp Chess' blog and the small sister blog Paranormal Questions, has in it's account $1.59 from Google Adsense, no distribution of funds until $50.00, $0.00 from Google Affiliate Program and $0.00 from CJ Affiliate Program, $5.74 in holding at Allposters.com until $25.00 is reached in commissions. All this well over a year of blogging, I guess some abuse the blogging system to the point that this rule was made, I hope this satisfies the FTC regulation, as to what I heard on the site, it sounded like if the blog itself was dedicated to a specific product/s. But best to be safe.

About Me

My photo
Not much to say, a disabled dude who blogs when he can for fun and some spare change, really that's what it's been so far, spare change! But that's life, doing this helps it go by a little less painful by keeping my mind occupied. A tumbleweed would do that at this point :P Have fun and Take Each Day as a Gift!
