GM Magnus Carlsen on a roll!

GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway, a fan favorite of chess players around the world has become the latest to break the elo rating of 2800!  He joins an elite group such as Fischer, Kasparov, Anand, Topalov and a few more I believe.  Just can't think off the top of my head this morning.

GM Carlsen won the Nanjing Pearl Springs 2009 tournament playing a double round robin vs GMs  Veselin Topalov, Peter Leko (who replaced Viswanathan Anand), Dmitry Jakovenko, Teimour Radjabov and Wang Yue. As you can see below in the crosstable, GM Carlsen was superb with 8/10 pts and a 3002 Performance Rating! Not to mention it was a category XXI tournament.  It looks like to me, that we have seen the next World Champion in action, but of course he has to wait for the Topalov-Anand World Championship Match, he can only get
better in time.                                                                                             photo courtesy of chessdom.com

Bummer

Well, the bummer is, I guess I will have to wait til November to renew poor TransWarp... I guess the price of fuel has affected everything, from Electrical Bills, Natural Gas bills, especially food bills, as trucks haul the produce and merchandise from supermarket from the warehouses.

I was almost going to say "the neighborhood store", but those have seen to have gone by the wayside. I remember a little Mom and Pop store we would go to on the Rosebud Reservation in Mission, SD. Now that little store houses the chamber of commerce for Mission...seems kind of weird. It was called "The Mission Meat Market", we would get our bacon, fresh sliced, to steak to burger there. It was run by a nice couple in town..but sadly, the way of the tiny store has gone, it was about the size of one of these convenience stores/gas stations you see now. Without the gas of course, some canned goods, sundry items...oh I can smell the place still. The very old style fridge that held the soda right by the cash register, yep, one of those ones that looked like an old typewriter...no sweep and beep there! I really miss those days, as well as going out to a farm and getting fresh eggs, the lady would always save pullet eggs for me, eggs laid by year old hens..and smaller, so I had like a kid-sized egg ready to be cooked. They were good people, my Grandparents used to visit with them while I explored the farm. Of course sitting on the small tractor pretending to drive it, exploring the barn.... Time passes so quickly the older you get, doesn't it? I almost wish I could time travel back to those days, go in and get a cold soda and have them slice up some fresh bacon...no MSG or Nitrates...I just feel nostalgic today I guess, missing the old days of not having to worry about money (being a kid) buying a soda for a nickel..collecting pop bottles to cash in for money for a new baseball or something dearly wanted by a kid. Ah well, we can't.

But anyway, off that topic, I was rambling anyway....hopefully, I will be able to get TW back online about Nov. 3.. Keep your fingers crossed, that is if you are one of the TW fans on ICC, I'm sure there are a lot who could care less.

RE: FTC Blogger Compensation Endorsement Rule Dec 01, 2009

While TransWarp Chess does get compensation for banner ads from Google Adsense, Google Affiliate Program, Commission Junction Affiliate Program and Allposters.com. TransWarp Chess does try not to personally Endorse any specific product, while I the blogger may like the idea of certain products and services, it is up to you, the reader to decide if a product deserves to be looked at via the ads. I comment on chess and computer chess, this blog is NOT about the products that are featured in the ads. At any rate, to date TransWarp Chess' blog and the small sister blog Paranormal Questions, has in it's account $1.59 from Google Adsense, no distribution of funds until $50.00, $0.00 from Google Affiliate Program and $0.00 from CJ Affiliate Program, $5.74 in holding at Allposters.com until $25.00 is reached in commissions. All this well over a year of blogging, I guess some abuse the blogging system to the point that this rule was made, I hope this satisfies the FTC regulation, as to what I heard on the site, it sounded like if the blog itself was dedicated to a specific product/s. But best to be safe.

About Me

My photo
Not much to say, a disabled dude who blogs when he can for fun and some spare change, really that's what it's been so far, spare change! But that's life, doing this helps it go by a little less painful by keeping my mind occupied. A tumbleweed would do that at this point :P Have fun and Take Each Day as a Gift!
