Another Thank You to GM Bassem Amin

GM Bassem Amin played 7 games this morning, I got to see the last two, he offered a draw in one of them, but Rybka had given itself an advantage, so it wasn't taken. This is the hard part, when to take a draw when you are observing the game. Often, when GM's are low on time, they will offer a draw as well, but I have to observe the sort of set rule that the computer should play on as it's often flagged as well, it cannot offer draws in this situation.

However, IF I'm observing, and the position is locked and hopeless for either side, I will accept or offer a draw. Like I wish I was observing the 240+ move game in the earlier post so as to avoid pointless moving back and forth by the computer even. I would have offered the draw much earlier....since TW isn't played very often anymore, I don't feel like watching it as often, it's no fun to sit there a month and not have a game. I understand that some GM's and IM's with a high enough rating to play TW don't even want to risk one point, hey, they DO have the chance of gaining 31 for a win and 15 for a draw for that 1 point, but still they won't play. If I was in that situation, I would play like 5 games, risking 5 points, only to gain them back in just one human vs human game. But I am not a 3376+ rated player :)
Although it would be cool!

I'm sorry I haven't updated much, I have been having more health problems than usual. Just yesterday, I found out with all I've been through already, polymyositis, diabetes, knee surgery, kidney stones... maybe add Congestive Heart Failure to the mix. I visited a pulmonologist to check why I get so short of breath so quickly, I thought it might be my lungs, but she said she detected what I guess is called an S3 Gallup in my heart. Getting ready to look that up after the post, so I have a lot on my plate, hopefully it will turn out to be nothing, what's sad, is I was already denied Cardiac Rehab by the Indian Health Service..I had also been complaining of heart flutters for years, but was told it was just a pvc and everyone gets them now and then. They were the main cause of my anxiety, you have that happen, adrenaline rushes through your body and you get scared, naturally. I've had stress tests..echo cardiograms, but nothing like an S3 Gallup was mentioned. Also, I hadn't had any coffee that morning, so no caffeine. But like I say, I will try to have a positive attitude and hope that it's not the case. One day at a time.

But again, Thank You GM Bassem Amin, for keeping TransWarp active, it had even fell off the rank list because of lack of games...kind of sad. I tried even doing unrated games for those rated above 2800 or 2900, I can't remember now, but no one even took that up, the first time, I had the formula wrong, and NECF-InSchools (Jorge Sammour-Hasbun, who had won the previous two Dos Hermanas tournaments, until falling short this year,) got to play rated games even though below the -700 limit as did a 400 rated player. I then got the formula right, but no one would play then even, unrated. They wanted only, it seems, to play and get 32 pts for a win while risking nothing. I don't know. I just know I tried to let high rated players who don't make the formula able to play unrated, but no one did. So I just went back to the regular formula.

So I really appreciate Bassem Amin's loyalty by playing some games now and then. I really appreciate it. He's a cool guy and if in the mood, might chat now and then with me, which a lot of GM's won't when I just say Thanks, I appreciate the games.
Which I really do appreciate! :)

Thanks to GM Bassem Amin!

Thanks to GM Bassem Amin for playing some blitz and bullet games after TransWarp had been sitting idle for quite some time. It hadn't had a rated game in 30 days taking it off the "rank" list, still needing 4 more blitz games and 6 standard games to be back on the "rank" list, so it's not showing it's 3969 rating. But at least it's back on top of the bullet list.

I think the GM's don't want to play rated because more than likely they will lose, I see that as an opportunity to learn and sharpen skills, but those rating points are like gold to some. I'm just glad to be back on the list, it's hard to sit there being online all the time and lose your spot because no one will play, I would have been just as bummed if TW wasn't leading after you had put so much time and effort into it and not be there. It's a major command, type "rank" without the quotes in the command line on ICC and no TW, even though it had been online the whole month.

But thanks to GM Bassem Amin, TW is back on the bullet list, he also drew TransWarp which I will post below, it is a 50 move draw, so be prepared for a lot of clicks. Congrats to B-Amin for his draw!

GM Bassem Amin vs TransWarp

Getting to this position:

Where after 40 more moves of piece shuffling, we got to this position and the 50 move rule and draw.

1/2-1/2

I wish the game generator could do more than 200 moves, but sadly, it cannot, which I suppose saves a lot of space on their server. But they are very handy to have when generating games!

World Computer Chess Championship Round 1

Rybka started out the competition with a win over Deep Sjeng. At first, Deep Sjeng seemed to be holding it's own, but fell apart in the late middlegame. The scores (evaluations) were pretty even until Deep Sjeng played Bg7, with computers, it's really tough to say exactly what the losing move was, but that's where Rybka started to get on the plus side and take advantage of every inaccuracy that Deep Sjeng played.

Finally, Deep Sjeng resigned after Rybka had a Rook+Bishop+pawn vs Deep Sjeng's B+3 pawns... Evaluation had Rybka firmly ahead at that point by +5.00.

Standings after Round 1, Probably won't get Round 2 in until tomorrow.

Very Slow Again

TransWarp has been sitting idle a lot lately, I tried an experiment where 2900-3200 rated players could play unrated, but the formula didn't take. I have asked for some support on this, but haven't recieved an answer on this yet, on how to make the formula where players who can put up a point per game plays rated, but players who are very strong but cannot put up a point can play unrated. I think this is fair as TW would be risking 32 points for nothing.

NECF-InSchools did play some rated games, but the formula didn't work as I intended, so what should have been unrated games were rated, but TW hung in there and won all the games. I'm now trying a new formula that should let those rated 2800+ to -700 below my rating, play unrated....hopefully this time it will work. It's a shame to sit idle.

Hopefully, everyone will have a great month of May, with so little going on, I didn't have many posts for April, I wish I did have more, but with no games...it was like 8 days without a blitz game until NECF-InSchools played, much more on the other time controls, still been 27 days without a bullet game, last played by GM Bassem Amin and 19 days for standard, again by GM Bassem Amin (B-Amin).

I hope my posting of the stats when TW achieved 4000 didn't put anyone off, I thought it was an event worth posting at least for my own personal records (not records like in set a record, but record as in recording data). TW did all the work, except for the books and some settings.

And now a word, as usual, for hopefully TW's benefit, just paid another $40.00 for the website, have earned a whopping $7.22 in about a year of trying, not even enough for a deposit, lol. But have to try.

RE: FTC Blogger Compensation Endorsement Rule Dec 01, 2009

While TransWarp Chess does get compensation for banner ads from Google Adsense, Google Affiliate Program, Commission Junction Affiliate Program and Allposters.com. TransWarp Chess does try not to personally Endorse any specific product, while I the blogger may like the idea of certain products and services, it is up to you, the reader to decide if a product deserves to be looked at via the ads. I comment on chess and computer chess, this blog is NOT about the products that are featured in the ads. At any rate, to date TransWarp Chess' blog and the small sister blog Paranormal Questions, has in it's account $1.59 from Google Adsense, no distribution of funds until $50.00, $0.00 from Google Affiliate Program and $0.00 from CJ Affiliate Program, $5.74 in holding at Allposters.com until $25.00 is reached in commissions. All this well over a year of blogging, I guess some abuse the blogging system to the point that this rule was made, I hope this satisfies the FTC regulation, as to what I heard on the site, it sounded like if the blog itself was dedicated to a specific product/s. But best to be safe.

Not much to say, a disabled dude who blogs when he can for fun and some spare change, really that's what it's been so far, spare change! But that's life, doing this helps it go by a little less painful by keeping my mind occupied. A tumbleweed would do that at this point :P Have fun and Take Each Day as a Gift!
